KMS introduces a new look and an obsession with style. FREESHAPE is launched – a new subline specifically developed for heat styles that last until the next wash.

ICONIC MATTIFYING PRODUCTS

HAIRPLAY makeover spray was one of the first modern dry shampoos. It was launched as an upgrade to old-fashioned dry shampoos, combining volumizing and mattifying styling with dry cleansing. HAIRPLAY dry wax was developed to create a mattifying trend in hair styling, it has been a best seller since its launch.

NEW IOPS TECHNOLOGY

New IOPS (Inside Out Perfecting System) Technology reconstructed the hair from the inside out by increasing the hairs’ strength and pliability.

INNOVATIVE SEA SALT SPRAY and revival creme

KMS sea salt spray was of the first of its kind on the market, developed on the forefront of the beach waves texture trend, it’s a client favorite to this day. Revival creme was a light, easy-to-apply moisturizer. It remains a best seller around the world.

NEW retail system

The successful sublines were introduced for all products. Sublines in combination with colors made it easy for customers to self-select.

FIRST KMS SUBLINES

KMS launched the sublines FLATOUT and CURLUP. The subline approach was new at that time.

A HERO IS BORN

KMS introduced molding paste as a breakthrough product. Today molding paste is loved by stylists around the world who continue to discover new ways to work with it everyday.

FLAT OUT became the first professional non-chemical relaxer.

First kms reconstructor

KMS introduced Strategy Reconstuctor, a nutrient-rich reconstructive treatment that added pliability and shine to brittle, splitting hair.
1985

CHANGING CLIENTS' BEHAVIOUR WITH LEAVE-INS

Trilogy, developed as one of the first leave-ins, expanded the leave-in category offering for clients. The leave-in conditioner provided detangling and moisture and became a very successful KMS product.

INNOVATIVE THERMAL STYLING PROTECTION

KMS introduced the thermal styling protector Control, which was launched as one of the first heat styling products on the market.

NEW STYLING & setting gel

The entire KMS assortment featured the molecule logo which reflected the connection to the technology behind the products.

1976: FIRST PRODUCTS

“NEFA” (Natural Essential Fatty Acids) shampoo was one of the first KMS products. NEFA included oil based moisture for dry and chemically dry, thick and coarse hair.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Dick Kornfield, Jamey Mazzotta, and Gary Smith joined forces in 1976 to start their own professional haircare brand. The three former Jhirmack executives founded KMS with a vision of creating innovative haircare products. The promise to research, manufacture and market the finest professional haircare products in the world remains part of the brand’s DNA to this day.
